Relationship between Temperature Rise and Deformation during Lateral Compression of Wood

In order to examine the relationship between temperature rise and deformation of wood, surface temperature of specimens of hinoki was measured by a thermography device during compression perpendicular to grain. The mechanism of heat generation during deformation and dimensional recovery of specimens were also discussed.
